so i was doing some research for a potential summer vacation (tripadvisor.com lets you see other travellers' candid photos), and jen + i learned that the Mexican hotels seem to have some kind of preoccupation with creepy towel-animals? i've always applauded the famous tin-foil swan doggie bag, but this doesn't quite carry the same charm:

even less appealing: alligator?

 nothing says "welcome" like a towel-monkey...
