need movers?

Seriously? I just moved today and found these Chinese guys on Craigslist for $50/hr.

That's 2 men for $50/hr!

We were in our new home within 3 hours ($150.00). Unreal.  Maybe inhumane? But we tipped generously.

the cool b&t

chameleon.JPG

I remember when i was part of the corporate world. You'd have an extra 2-3 pairs of high heels at the foot of your desk. And then the awesome B&T fashion of wearing a skirt suit with a pair of sneakers to and from work. Not hot.

Well, these guys have awhile to go with the fashion factor, but they've gotten the technology down. Check out the Camileon Heels.

give me my pinkberry!

Pinkberry has swept the city. I know every food blogger and dessert blogger has written about this dessert, but I can't resist.

The thing is, that picture just doesn't do it justice. When you add all the goody toppings like cap'n crunch, cocoa puffs, and other fresh fruits like mango, kiwi. yum! I was in K-town yesterday (the first of three NYC outposts) and the line was out the door! How am I supposed to get a quick fix when I have to wait for half an hour to get my pinkberry! it's just not fair.

The first time i went here, i went two days in a row. You can't go here thinking it's going to be ice cream or that it's frozen yogurt trying to taste like ice cream. it's frozen yogurt with that refreshing sour yogurt flavor.

duh, and now that i've posted this... maybe you guys will actually go there and i'll have to wait even longer! but it's SOOOOOO worth it.

Now, why didn't i come up with this idea?

freedom!

i indulge incessantly in celebrity gossip magazines. who doesn't? it's silly yet addicting.

and working in fashion, you can't afford not to know what the hottest new thing is.

but i rarely (never is prob more accurate) cut out a celeb's photo and think that's how i want to look or dress. yet this picture of michelle williams inspired me to chop off my hair.

Not quite the same.

Fortunately, my stylist knows that my hair is not soft enough to pull off that hair style - it would stick up like a boy's. so i guess i'll have to stick with this until i'm ready to dye it or perm it so my hair "weakens" so i can look more like heath's girlfriend. oh, well.

Ode to WV Part I

After 7 years of dwelling in the West Village, I will be picking up and leaving my stomping grounds.

Some of the things I'll miss...

Late night snacks at Gray's Papaya. Menu: 2 Dogs with onion, ketchup, mustard and a banana daq

Late night snacks at the old (now half-defunct due to rent hike) Joe's Pizza

Neighborhood joint Joe's Coffee (not related to Joe's Pizza)

And....

-Caipirinhas and Mojitos with my ladies at Sushi Samba

-Free food at Spain Restaurant

-Late night walks to watch NYU Freshman partying on MacDougal St, thinking that's the party scene in NY

-Having Gourmet Garage, Citarella, and Jefferson Market within shopping distance for those last minute saffron runs.

-Wogies's (apparently pronounced woh-gees) Cheesesteak sandwiches

-Hitting up stores Claudine, Albertine, Sophia Eugene, Marc Jacobs for the latest fashions

-Washington Square Park in the summertime

-Fried Chicken at Maroon's

-My Chinese dry cleaner's that've been doing my laundry for 7 years

Mariah 1 - Avril 0

so i just saw avril's new video (yeah working at mtv didn't help much in being "with it") and hello! what a sad sad attempt to do what mariah had done so masterfully only about 10 years ago! avril's GIRLFRIEND, although admittedly is kind of a totally awesome song,  puts the age-old film trick of doubling herself as the "other girl" who she beats the crap out of her "because she's like, so whatever" to SHAME. her alter ego is an unfunny sad nerd girl who you kinda feel sorry for. whereas mariah's alter ego in the classic HEARTBREAKER video is a bonefide pooch-toting bitch which is both very entertaining and gratifying to see her butt kicked.

more reasons why HEARTBREAKER is one of the best music videos ever:

1. the opening sequence with the musical-stylized choreography is SO ahead of its time! in 1999, only her and bjork (and spike jonze) were on this.

2. the short flash animation is also so ahead of its time! "what's flash? i don't know! but it's 1999 and i'm a record label exec and i'll pay this computer nerd $1 million to make a crappy one!"

3. it's about confronting your cheating man! (as opposed to stealing someone else's boyfriend.. bad avril)
